Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester hosts ‘Heroes Helping Heroes Day’

WEBSTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — First responders from Webster and other towns across Monroe County welcomed Challenger athletes to play ball on Saturday.

Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester held "Heroes Helping Heroes Day" at the Challenger Miracle Field on Van Ingen Drive in Webster. Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester provides people with developmental, physical, or intellectual disabilities a barrier-free, safe and accessible place to experience the joy of playing team sports.

Challenger baseball games were held all Saturday morning with law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders to support the Challenger baseball players.

"I’ll tell you what. This means the world to these players. It’s not just baseball, it’s social interaction. We’ve had a couple of rainouts and I hear how disappointed they were. They got to see their friends and play ball. That’s what it’s all about," Ron Kampff, President of Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester said.

In addition to the baseball games, there was a dunk tank, carnival games, and delicious food.
