Amerks and Sabres make changes in goal
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — So much for pulling the goalie – Buffalo and its AHL affiliate both made notable moves with their goaltenders.
On Dec. 2 the Sabres announced they had traded with the Chicago Blackhawks for goalkeeper Malcolm Subban. ‘Future considerations’ was all Buffalo gave up for the veteran who has compiled over 80 starts in the NHL.
But the Sabres would make another move, recalling goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen from Rochester.
This was because Sabres starting net minder Dustin Tokarski was added to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.
In total, three goaltenders within the Sabres organization were either acquired, recalled, or placed on the COVID list.
The Amerks play again on Dec. 4 because of head coach Seth Appert being placed in the COVID-19 protocol.
Buffalo lost against Florida, 7-4, with Aaron Dell getting the start in goal with all of the moves happening around him.
