Sabres to play outdoor hockey as part of 2022 Heritage Classic
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — For the third time, the Buffalo Sabres will play hockey outdoors.
The National Hockey League Thursday announced the Sabres will square off in the elements against the Toronto Maples Leafs on March 13, 2022, at Tim Hortons Field, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Buffalo is no stranger to the outdoors, as it hosted the first-ever outdoor Winter Classic in 2008 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The team last took a trip outside when it squared off against the New York Rangers at Citi Field in Queens back in 2016. Both games ended in a close loss.
