Maple Weekend makes its sweet return

VICTOR, N.Y. (WHEC) — If you have a sweet tooth—you’re in for a treat. Maple weekends started Saturday across New York State.

Earlier today we checked out the fun at Kettle Ridge Farm in Victor.

The pancake breakfast was a hit—as was the syrup—and everything inside the retail shop.

The Western New York Maple Producers Association’s Maple Weekend is back after a two-year hiatus, and events are scheduled over two weekends this month. These weekends are timed to showcase everything local maple producers have to offer.

"This is the time of year when the trees provide us with sap so families come out, see the process, see what’s going on in the woods, come up here to the sugar house for the tour and then enjoy some pancakes or other breakfast items in our barn," said Joe Hurley from Kettle Ridge Farms.

Fifty-four maple producers across Western New York’s 15 counties are participating on March 19 and 20, and March 26 and 27.

Many of them invite guests into the syrup-making process, with tastings and products to buy, and of course, pancake breakfasts.
