ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Attorney General’s Office filed a motion to keep restrictions on where guns can be carried.
The motion is to maintain the Concealed Carry Improvement Act, which a federal judge blocked parts of on Thursday.

U.S District Judge Glenn Suddaby said the state couldn’t restrict concealed carrying guns in some sensitive locations, including on the subway and Times Square. The state also can’t require that gun permit applicants provide their social media information.
Attorney General Letitia James appealed that decision that same day. In a statement released on Monday, James said: “This common-sense gun control legislation is critical in our state’s effort to reduce gun violence. We will continue to fight for the safety of everyday New Yorkers.”
