Rep. Morelle and Singletary speak about issues they believe are most important to voters

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Election Day is four weeks from Tuesday. News10NBC caught up with Congressman Joe Morelle and his opponent former Rochester police chief La’Ron Singletary, the two candidates running to represent you in congress.
Singletary and Morelle spoke about the issues they believe are driving voters. Both candidates pointed to crime and have different proposals to tackle it.

Morelle is the incumbent and says accessible abortions and restricting gun ownership are a big part of his platform.
“I always think it’s who’s best able to represent the interests of this community on a whole host of issues, whether it’s the fundamental right of women to reproductive health, whether it’s getting illegal guns off our streets,” Morelle said.
Singletary says between the economy and violence in the city, people are going to vote like their lives depend on it.
“I think people are going to go to the polls with a couple things in mind this year, public safety, inflation” Singletary said. “Those are when I’m traveling across the district, that’s what people are talking about.”
