ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Ukrainian American community in the Greater Rochester area is one of the largest in the nation.

The attacks back home have shaken that community to its core, with Ukrainian Americans in Rochester sharing stories about what their families are going through with News10NBC, and arranging a meeting with Rep. Joe Morelle (D, NY-25) for the weekend at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Webster.

Buildings in Downtown Rochester will be lit up yellow and blue, like the Ukrainian flag, starting Friday night and running through at least Friday, March 4.

From Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 27 the Fairport Lift Bridge, along with other landmarks across New York State will be lit blue and yellow.

On Saturday, a rally for Ukraine at the Federal Building at 100 State St. in Downtown Rochester is planned for 4 p.m. ROC Maidan is hosting.
