ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Our well-advertised cold front is through, and we’ll see much drier weather into the weekend, along with a brighter sky, but that doesn’t mean our weather will be tranquil.
As is typical in the fall months, we’ll be battling some wind over the next few days. Friday will feature highs near 60 with a mostly sunny sky, and a wind gusting 20-30 mph. This won’t be enough to cause any issues with downed limbs or outages, but the breeze will be noticeable on Friday, and even more so on Saturday.
Winds will gust 30-40 mph out of the southwest ahead of another weak cold front set to move through Saturday afternoon and evening. Again, this shouldn’t be enough to cause any issues with healthy trees, but it’ll be an “annoying” wind.
This front may set off a few isolated showers Saturday afternoon, but most of the area will stay dry. Sunday’s highs will drop back into the 50s after seeing 60s on Saturday, but the breeze should be a bit softer.
Next week is still promising to bring the chilliest air of the season to the Eastern Great Lakes, including western New York. We still expect it to be chilly enough for some lake-enhanced precipitation, including the potential for some wet snow, mainly in the high terrain, including the western Southern Tier, but also perhaps even the Bristol Hills.
The majority of our area should remain flake-free for the most part. The chilliest air will slowly begin to loosen its grip by the end of next week, which will hopefully set the stage for nicer weather by next weekend.
