RPD: Man faces weapons charges after argument over disassembling stolen car

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is facing weapons charges after police responded to an argument over someone disassembling a stolen car on Sunday morning.

Rochester police said the owner of the car got into an argument with a suspect who was disassembling the car on Myrtle Street near Laurel Street. The owner told police that the suspect displayed a gun, causing the owner to run from the scene.

After RPD officers responded, they took 36-year-old Antonio Rodriguez into custody. He is facing two counts of felony weapons charges and a menacing charge. Rodriguez will be arraigned in Rochester City Court.

When police responded, the SWAT Team secured the area because the car’s owner reported seeing the weapon.

There is a large police presence on Myrtle Street, between Otis Street and Orlando Street. RPD confirm the street is currently closed pending an active police investigation involving the possibility of weapons. This is a developing story and News10NBC will update the story as we learn more.
