Red Wings announce 50-degree guarantee on Opening Day 2022

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Red Wings GM Dan Mason is just 1-4 in his weather predictions, but that might be the only time fans are pleased with a losing record.

That’s because if it doesn’t hit 50 degrees on Opening Day during Rochester’s April 12 game against the Buffalo Bisons, all fans in attendance will get one ticket to any future Red Wings home game in April or May. They made a spoofy video on Twitter that you might recognize from a certain series of commercials.

It’ll be a close call – the average high temperature in Rochester on April 12 is around 52 degrees.

In 2020, Rochester saw an unusually high Opening Day, so Mason upped his offer to 60 degrees. It’s been a warm winter at times, so Mason might have to considered a higher ‘over’ as the April 12 date comes closer.

Right now, single-game tickets for the entire season are slated to go on sale on February 22 at 10 a.m. Fans will be able to purchase two tickets for $22 dollars in the 200 level to any game during a special February 22 promo using the code ‘GOWINGS’.

Rochester opens the season on Tuesday, April 5 at Toledo.
