ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Fire Department responded to two house fires overnight.
Crews battled a house fire on Weaver Street, responding just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday. RFD said this is the second time in two days this house caught fire.
At one point, Rochester police needed to be called in as well. RFD said the fire extended to another house next door. There was a fire in this same house on Monday but this latest fire caused extensive damage and was deemed inhabitable.
One firefighter had minor injuries and went to the hospital. The cause is under investigation, and it is being investigated as suspicious.
Also, a house fire on Jay Street left two people without a home. RFD said the one-and-a-half-story home was heavily damaged.
A second alarm was declared due to heavy fire on the second floor of the home. The two people who lived there were assisted by Red Cross. RFD said the smoke detectors were not working.
