High school graduation rates increase across NY, including RCSD

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – The Rochester City School District saw a 3.2% increase in its graduation rate, according to statistics released Wednesday by the New York State Education Department.

RCSD’s rate for the 2017 co-hort is at 71.4% In a statement, Superintendent Dr. Leslie Myers-Small said, "While we need to increase our graduation rate far beyond the 71 percent, we are encouraged that our district is continuing on the right trajectory."

Statewide, the graduation rate is 86.1%, which is up 1.3% from the previous year and 9.4% higher than a decade ago.

NYSED did note many regents exams were canceled during the pandemic, but could not say to what extent it affected the graudation rates.
