North Goodman Street murder victim was stabbed, not shot as initially believed. His identity has been revealed

Update: The man murdered Thursday night at North Goodman and Keller Street had been identified as 34-year-old Anthony Williams. Williams was a City of Rochester resident and lived in the neighborhood where he was killed. It was initially believed Williams was shot, but upon closer examination by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, it is has been determined he was stabbed and not shot.
There are no suspects in custody and the motive is still unknown.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police are investigating after a man in his 30s was found dead with a gunshot wound on Thursday night in the city’s northeast.
The Rochester Police Department responded at around 9:30 p.m. after someone reported that a man was lying in the middle of the intersection of North Goodman and Keller Streets.
The victim was pronounced dead when RPD arrived. RPD said he was shot in the upper body and is investigating it as a murder.
Police are still trying to determine what led to the shooting and they don’t have a suspect as of yet. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
