BUFFALO, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul was in Buffalo on Friday morning to announce a permanent memorial to honor the victims of the May 14 mass shooting at Tops that killed 10 and injured 3 others.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says the 5/14 Memorial Commission will oversee the project. At the press conference, Gov. Hochul explained the intended purpose of the future monument.
“We want to do something where people remember, a place to come and reflect, a place to honor and a place to say never again,” Hochul said. “I hope people will leave there with resolve in their heart that we must continue our fight to remove guns and not allow teenagers to buy an AR-15.”
More details regarding the memorial will be announced in the future.
