Steuben County mother charged with manslaughter in 3-week-old’s death

BATH, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Steuben County mother is facing manslaughter charges in the death of her 3-week-old daughter.

New York State Police say they first responded to the home of Cherokee-Cheyenne Shull, 22, of Bath, on Thursday, Feb. 3 when the baby was experiencing a medical emergency. By the time troopers, Bath Ambulance and AMR arrived, the baby was already dead.

Troopers, the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office and Steuben County Child Protective Services began investigating the death and on Friday, Feb. 11, arrested Shull and charged her with second degree manslaughter, a class C felony.

Shull was processed and remanded to the Steuben County Jail to await arraignment.
