ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A firefighter suffered a leg injury while responding to a house fire on 350 East Ridge Rd.

Four kids and one adult were inside the home when the smoke detectors went off early Monday morning as they were sleeping. All five escaped the home in north Rochester and fire crews were able to put out the flames in the second-floor bedroom.

The Rochester Fire Department responded after multiple reports of a fire around 2:40 a.m. Using a water hose, they contained the fire to a bedroom. The entire second floor had significant smoke and heat damage, deeming the house uninhabitable.

Emergency services transported the injured firefighter for evaluation. None of the inhabitants of the home were injured ad the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
