ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — State Police issued a warning for football fans ahead of Super Bowl Sunday: Do not drink and drive. They are not messing around.

The Super Bowl, like the Fourth of July and St. Patrick’s Day, is one of the days of the year when police see the most drunk driving arrests.

They’ll be enforcing safe driving, so if you plan on drinking, be safe and don’t plan on driving.

"With ridesharing, with Uber and Lyft, there’s no reason to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle," said Trooper Mark O’Donnell. "If you’re going out with a crew, have someone stay sober, don’t drink at all."

Police all across our region are reminding fans this weekend: If you’re planning on being the designated driver, then you’re the real MVP.
