MACEDON, N.Y. (WHEC) — One pizza shop is giving more than just warm slices of pizza.

Steve MacNeal, the owner of Mac’s Pizza Shack in Macdeon spent the past 48 hours in the freezing cold to make a point.

"In my career, I’ve seen it grow quite a bit, and I’ve definitely seen it grow here in Wayne County," MacNeal said.
"There are families that might not know where they’re going to put their head down at night because of the economy or a fire. It’s a very large population and a large definition of homelessness."

MacNeal was in law enforcement for almost 30 years. In that time, he had the opportunity to work with the Wayne County Action Program and Family Promise of Wayne County helping relocate families.

"We worked together to find permanent housing for a family that was living in unsafe conditions because they had no place to go," MacNeal added.

Those actions and memories turned into a life mission. MacNeal says a tasty oven-fresh oven pizza isn’t the only thing his business can provide.

"We do a lot to give back to the community, and I’ll tell you what – they give it back tenfold. We have a pile of donations, people are bringing in cash and checks, and they’re such a giving community," MacNeal said.

MacNeal plans to hand out all the donations to non-profits across Wayne County this week.
