Gov. Hochul signs off on new maps for state congressional districts

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The new maps will give Democrats an advantage, due to having a huge majority of registered voters in most of the congressional districts in the state.

The state legislature approved the maps just a few days earlier. Now, Democrats will have a majority of registered voters in 22 of the 26 congressional districts in New York state.

Republicans say they’re considering legal challenges to the maps, saying they violate the state’s constitution.

The state democratic leadership said the maps do reflect New York’s population shifts over the last decade.
