Gillibrand pushing for $55 billion to establish ‘health force’ in every community

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — After securing $3 billion to establish a National Public Health workforce, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D, NY) is pushing for Biden’s budget request to include another $55 billion to establish a "Health Force" in "every community".

Gillibrand’s Health Force, Resilience Force, and Jobs to Fight COVID-19 Act was included in the American Rescue Plan, a legislative package that included measures intended to provide economic relief earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The health force will not only support our healthcare workers and patients in the short-term, but it will help give us a whole new generation of people from new communities and get the access to the medical careers that may well be their future," Gillibrand said.

The health force in New York City currently helps find people in need of care and get them to resources that prevent more problems down the road and checks in on patients after getting prescriptions or advice from medical professionals.
