ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The City of Rochester wants your help to pick the next chief of the Rochester Police Department.

A nationwide recruitment campaign led by Interim Chief David Smith is underway to fill the position.

Over the next two weeks, the city will host four virtual community input sessions for each of the four quadrants of the city.

They’re scheduled for the following days:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 2 (Southeast)
  • Friday, Feb. 4 (Northwest)
  • Tuesday, Feb. 8 (Southwest)
  • Thursday, Feb. 10 (Northeast)

All are scheduled for 6 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is not required. The Zoom links will be available online. The city says those who can not make their quadrant’s scheduled meeting are allowed to attend another one’s.

There’s also an online survey for residents to take. It will be up until Friday, Feb. 4.
