ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — University of Rochester students start coming back to campus on Thursday.
They went online for most of January when the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Monroe County started going up.
The university imposed a COVID-19 booster shot requirement and is now requiring that everyone wear surgical, N-95 or KN-95 masks, saying cloth masks are only allowed if they are a secondary layer over a medical mask.
The U of R says those are required to be worn “while indoors on any of the University’s campuses and properties” by all students, faculty, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
It says it’s going to make free disposable surgical face masks available throughout campus.
