IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Options are dwindling for area pet owners after another vet is facing staffing issues.

In a letter to clients, the Irondequoit Animal Hospital indicated that after closing Tuesday, it will remain closed for the remainder of the week "due to staffing issues and concerns around the current pandemic."

News10NBC just received a statement directly from the facility’s parent company, Thrive Pet Healthcare, indicating a staff COVID-19 exposure requiring several employees quarantine for five full days.

The veterinary service indicated it would reopen on Monday, Jan. 24.

The notice encouraged clients to call another animal hospital for routine needs and suggested pet owners call the Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Services in Brighton for a medical emergency.

Just last week, News10NBC reported that VSES would no longer be providing 24-hour care, and instead would be opening at 6 a.m. and closing at 10 p.m.
