Record breaking snow in Rochester Monday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We saw our biggest daily snowfall in nearly four years in Rochester on Monday.

We also set a new daily snow record for Jan. 17! We recorded 10" of snow since midnight, breaking the old record for today’s date of 9.5" set back in 1958. As of late Monday evening, the Rochester airport recorded 11.1" of total snow since the flakes started flying Sunday night. That is actually on the lower end of snowfall reported across our area.

The highest snowfall amounts were west of Rochester, with parts of Orleans County measuring nearly 2 feet of snow! The lower part of the range ended up in the Finger Lakes, as expected. Still, most of the Rochester and Finger Lakes region picked up about 12-18" of snow from Sunday night through Monday night. Here’s a complete list of updated snowfall totals across western New York from the National Weather Service.
