ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Friday was Jim Malatras’s final day in office as SUNY Chancellor and several outlets are reporting he could be getting a big payout.

The Times Union and The New York Post report he’s eligible for a $450,000 one-year paid “study leave”, and that once the year is up, he’ll also be eligible for a max $245,000-per-year faculty post, plus state retirement benefits.

Malatras stepped down last month after he came under fire for text messages showing him mocking Lindsay Boylan in 2019. She later became the first woman to accuse former Gov. Cuomo of sexual harassment.

SUNY Oswego President Deborah Stanely will serve as interim chancellor starting Saturday.
