ROCHESTER, N.Y. A Greece man is accused of possessing and producing child pornography – including images he allegedly took while working as a security guard at Spencerport High.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Jason Lane, 27, was also sent an image of a semi-nude preschooler at the Penfield Doodle Bugs! location. A criminal complaint says the photo was taken by Lane’s girlfriend, who worked at that center.

She told investigators she took it because she thought it was funny and also sent it to the child’s mother. Investigators interviewed the mother, who told them she did not feel like the photo constituted child pornography.

Lane also allegedly took photos of students at Spencerport High School while he was employed there. The criminal complaint says the images, some of which focus on female students’ buttocks, appear to have been surreptitiously taken. Parents in Spencerport say it’s alarming.

“I was alarmed of course because my daughter is just entering into ninth grade, so it’s a scary situation to hear that someone you trust with your kids is doing these types of things,” Tracey Dunn told News10NBC.

“It makes me sick to hear things like that, and you hope that those people are found out early,” Bob Hengenius, another Spencerport native, told us.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says investigators were tipped off to Lane after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received tips last summer from Yahoo that a user had uploaded 260 files of possible child pornography. New York State Police traced the files to an IP address belonging to Lane.

“Multiple students impacted by whatever it is that they were doing, photographs or lewd comments or whatever the case is, you really don’t want to see or hear that in the community,” Hengenius added.

Lane was appointed to the Greece Special Police in 2019 but terminated after his probationary period, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. The school district says Lane worked in the high school from November 2021 to August 2022.

The statement reads in part:

“The investigation confirmed that no explicit photos of our students were taken. There are two unidentifiable photos of students fully-dressed that are not explicit, yet the authorities could visibly identify that it was in our Spencerport High School hallway with our Ranger Pride logo. Again, there were no explicit photos of our students.”

The district says Lane was a contract employee through the SWOOP security firm. We called Swoop Security firm to ask questions about Lane’s employment and before we could get anything out, a co-owner said that he was not answering any questions and hung up the phone.

This is a developing story, and News10NBC will provide updates as we learn more information.
