Good Question: When will the traffic light at Route 104 and Goodman Street be fixed?

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Here’s the issue — the traffic lights at Route 104 and North Goodman in Irondequoit.

You know the saying, one of these things is not like the other? That applies here.

At the southwest corner of the intersection there is a working traffic light but it’s not permanent. It’s a pop-up signal until repairs can be made.

News10NBC’s Brennan Somers found out back on Christmas Eve a drunk driver took out the light pole.

For now, there’s the temporary fix. It’s a flashing red in all directions.

We’ve been out looking into this for days following reports of minor crashes at what is a very busy area.

Drivers passing by keep asking us when will all the repairs get done? They are worried flashing red lights just aren’t good enough here.

Somers reached out to the county DOT. He learned the state owns the signal and our local crews just maintain it. NYSDOT officials also say they’ve known about the problem since the Christmas Eve crash. They’ve been working on a replacement.

The contractor is replacing the light on Thursday, nearly three weeks after that drunk driver ran into the old one.
