Allen commits 3 turnovers, Bills lose 2nd straight

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) – Josh Allen picked up a lot of yards and helped the Bills to 30 points. But in the biggest moments, his Bills came up short.

Football can be a game of numbers. That rang true for the Bills on Sunday.

Josh Allen turned the ball over three times to the Vikings. It resulted in a second loss in a row for Buffalo. And one pass decided everything in overtime.

The fans at Highmark Stadium caught the game of the day. And for a while, it looked as if the Bills might wrap everything up. Buffalo led Minnesota, 27-10, with 1:51 to play in the third quarter.

Then, momentum shifted.

Dalvin Cook burst through a hole in Buffalo’s defense, going all the way for an 81-yard TD. That pulled the Vikings to within 10.

What transpired in the final five minutes of regulation and in overtime resembled the Bills-Chiefs classic last January.

With 4:34 left in the game, C.J. Ham ran it in for six, pulling Minnesota within four. A missed extra point gave Buffalo some breathing room.

But a Bills punt set up Minnesota with a chance to win the game. The Vikings took it all the way inside the Bills’ one-yard line. Twice – thanks to an offsides penalty – the Bills’ defense stood tall on 4th & goal, leaving Buffalo with the ball with under a minute to play.

What happened next may never sit well with Josh Allen. He fumbled the snap, and the Vikings pounced on it in the endzone for a touchdown.

Now, with 41 seconds left, the Bills trailed by three. Allen settled in and drove them down for a chip-shot field goal to head to overtime.

After allowing a lot of clock to run down, but holding the Vikings to a FG, Allen quarterbacked his team down the field again. But this time, another turnover more costly than the last, ended it. An interception thrown by Allen gave the Vikings a 33-30 (OT) win.

After the game, Allen was visibly upset.

“Losing sucks. Sucks this way even worse. Horrendous second half. I gotta be better,” said Allen.

The Bills stay at home next Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
