ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — An 84-year-old woman was shoved to the ground as her car was stolen in the Town of Greece. That car was later spotted in Rochester leading to a police chase.

Rochester Police say the stolen 2012 Honda Accord was spotted in the area of Portland Avenue and Clifford Street around 5 p.m. Sunday.

When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver refused to pull over, and police started to pursue.

The chase ended in the area of North Clinton Avenue and Oscar Street when the suspect vehicle struck a curb on Upper Falls Boulevard causing damage to the front wheel. No other cars were involved.

Two Rochester men have been arrested. 51-year-old Dwayne Karnes is facing several charges including DWI, aggravated unlicensed operator (1st degree), unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and several traffic offenses. He’ll be arraigned Monday.

A second man, 53-year-old James Johnson was issued an appearance ticket for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (3rd degree).

Police say the woman had life-threatening injuries when she was rushed to the hospital, but as of Monday, the woman is in stable condition.
