Celebration of Life scheduled for Medal of Honor recipient Gary Beikirch Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — American hero and Vietnam War Veteran Gary Beikirch, will be laid to rest this weekend.

Beikirch died late last month after a long battle with cancer. He was 74.

He was from Greece.

Beikirch was awarded the Medal of Honor, the U.S. Military’s highest decoration, for his courageous actions as a Combat Medic in the Army Special Forces.

His Celebration of Life, which is open to the public, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. also at the First Bible Baptist Church in Hilton. It will be live-streamed.

In lieu of flowers, his family is asking for contributions to the Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester, which Beikirch was one of the founders of.
