ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Edison Tech’s Dakari Buchanan loves football loves and it’s easy to understand why. The game runs in his family.
“My father and my two little brothers played football so it’s kind of like, I just carry it on,” Buchanan said.
And he’s done that well. He’s won a coach’s award for that sport and did the same for track, a sport he started playing to help him improve on the football field.
“A lot of my coaches were telling me get into the track, it’s going to help you,” the junior added. “I actually listened. I got into track and this season I realized that it actually paid off. I was way faster, endurance better, it just helped overall.”
Buchanan hasn’t started looking at colleges just yet but he’d like football to be a part of his journey. He’d like another part of that journey to be studying medicine.
“It means a lot cause like I look at physicians and everything now and it’s just like, you actually save lives and you just look at it and it’s like crazy.”
Congrats to Edison Tech’s Dakari Buchanan on being this week’s News 10 NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week!
