ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For the second night in a row, Encompass Resources for Learning hosted 300 students for a free Thanksgiving meal.

The dinner was held at the program’s Lakeview Campus in Rochester on Tuesday. Several city leaders turned out, including Mayor Malik Evans. Organizers say it’s important to provide community members with a safe place to “break bread”.

“It’s important to engage with families and students, to let them know around this time of year that we care about them,” said Jamarr Myers, program coordinator for Encompass Future Ready. “We want them to do better in their finances, their emotional and social health, as well as just coming together as a family and enjoying dinner with one another.”

This is the third year of the encompass holiday dinners. the program provides educational support for students and their families.
