WASHINGTON D.C. (WHEC) — Families who have lost loved ones due to COVID-19 are able to apply to FEMA up to $9,000 to help with funeral costs.

FEMA has reported paying out $1.5 billion to 226,000 people since January of 2020.

However, in the United States, there have been over 800,000 COVID-related deaths. That means that over 3/4 of families that have lost loved ones due to COVID haven’t taken advantage of this assistance.

In the unfortunate event that you do lose someone to COVID, this link directs you on the application process.
