Fire on Dodge Street in Rochester damages apartment building

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The fire broke out this morning just after six in the morning after calls of people being trapped inside an apartment building.

There was a fire on the first floor of a two-story apartment building at 82 Dodge Street in Rochester. A four apartment section of the 16 units were effected in the fire. One apartment was damaged.

Two people were able to get out as firefighters came to the scene. Five other people were safely brought out with the help of the firefighters.

No one in the fire was hurt but one person was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.

An investigation confirms that unattended cooking was the cause of the fire.
