TSA: Gun confiscated from Geneva man at airport checkpoint

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Geneva man is facing a federal financial penalty after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees found a loaded gun in his carry-on bag at the Elmira Corning Regional Airport on Tuesday.

TSA said they found a 9 mm handgun in the bag and alerted airport police, who came and confiscated it.

It is legal to travel with firearms, but they need to be unloaded, in a hard-sided, locked case, packed separately from ammunition. The case needs to be checked and properly declared.
