ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester community members are continuing to plead for an end to the violence, and they’re hoping prayer will help.

Tuesday night Uniting and Healing Through Hope of Monroe County held a prayer rally at Hope Christian Fellowship, followed by a community recognition event at Davinci’s Restaurant.

The group says it was largely a "Thank you" to the people and organizations who have joined them in the mission to Stop the Violence, during a year where Rochester has seen a record 81 homicides. As of 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 the RPD Open Data Portal also listed 344 shootings.
