ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester City School District is asking all students to bring their school-issued technology home with them over winter break due to rising cases of COVID-19.

The district said it hasn’t made a decision to shift to remote learning yet, but if it does decide to pivot to remote learning, it will notify parents immediately.

The request comes just one day after Buffalo Public Schools asked its students to do the same, and the same day that The New York State Education Department canceled January 2022 Regents Exams.

The RCSD, like other area districts, is distributing COVID-19 rapid test kits to students this week so that they can self-test before they return to school from winter break.
