Victor school officials speak to parents concerned about crash involving former student

VICTOR, N.Y. — School officials in Victor answered the questions of concerned parents at a meeting on Monday night. It all stems from a crash on the school campus involving a former student.

Officials say the former student drove up onto a hill near an entrance to the school last week and crashed intentionally.

That student made concerning comments on social media before and after the accident about his own health and safety. The Ontario County sheriff was at that meeting to address concerns about security in Victor schools.

“The SRO program that’s currently in place is sponsored by the county, the school districts, the sheriff’s office and we’ve worked very hard to place officers in the schools who are qualified, who are dedicated professionals and who clearly have a personal mission to go above and beyond the normal law enforcement roles you would expect of a police officer,” said Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero.

The Ontario County sheriff says deputies responded to the incident very quickly, and none of the students were in any danger. He also noted that due to the ongoing investigation he could not provide any more details about the incident.
