ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The University of Rochester Medical Center announced the launch of on-demand video visits to receive medical care from the comfort of your home.
The service will be primarily for people with common illnesses or minor injuries who are not able to see a primary care provider. This is part of an effort to expand access to care.
“It will literally go out to the fringes of our region in the east west and south,” said John Clark, the chief administrative officer for UR Medicine Primary Care. “And not only that, we know from information that we are collecting on the patient’s location that many of these patients are coming from very underserved communities where there is a high social vulnerability index. And this program has I think surprised some in its reach to all walks of life and patients throughout the region.”
URMC officials say this will also help many of their physicians who are working with packed schedules.
