First Alert Weather: Another damp and dreary day before sun for Friday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — We’re waking up on Thursday morning to yet another damp, cloudy, and cool conditions.
Cloud cover will once again stick around through a good chunk of the day, but there is the slight chance for some sun late Thursday as we slowly dry out. There is the opportunity throughout Thursday for an isolated shower but we will mainly deal with some drizzle and mist.
Temperatures are not as mild as Wednesday with us starting off near 40 degrees. With the cloud cover in place, do not expect temperatures to budge much as we move into the afternoon as we are expecting a high near 40.
A weak cold front will swing through later into Thursday as well. This won’t bring us any extra moisture but it will let our temperatures drop a bit during nightime and remain a little chilly for Friday.
Although we will turn cooler, the sun will return for Friday as high pressure moves in. Partly cloudy skies are expected for Friday afternoon, and then we turn mostly sunny by Saturday. However, it will not last too long as cloud cover builds late ahead of some rain and snow for Sunday.
A wave of low pressure will swing through the Great Lakes this weekend and bring us some rain and snow for Sunday. Models remain different on outcomes across our region. The more reliable model shows rain for the lower elevations while the high elevations see some snow with near 2″ of accumulation.

Other models are a bit more aggressive with the strength of low pressure and the cold air showing light to moderate accumulations across our region. These are trends to keep our mind of over the next few days, but as of now the forecast is calling for some rain and snow showers with minor accumulations possible for the highest elevations.
We will keep our mind on this for our region locally and for Buffalo as many will be headed out for the game Sunday afternoon.
