ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As powerful winds continue to impact the Rochester region, Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) says its crews will continue to work overnight to restore power to impacted customers.

As of Saturday night at around 10:45 p.m., approximately 38,257 customers are without power. According to RG&E, the hardest-hit areas include RG&E’s Central (32,431), Sodus (5,468) and Canandaigua (980) divisions, which includes Monroe, Ontario, Cayuga and Wayne counties.

Crews are working to assess damage, make safe downed wires, clear fallen tree debris and restore power. Come daylight, RG&E will be able to further assess any damage caused. The company said in a statement Saturday night it is also coordinating responses efforts with state and local emergency management authorities.
