Do the Right Thing: Solomon saved his grandfather!

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— News10NBC is celebrating the latest winner of this semester’s “Do the Right Thing” award. Meet Solomon Stevens!

Solomon is a 4th-grader at School 53 in Rochester. He was nominated for staying calm during a frightening medical emergency involving a family member.

Back in June, Solomon and his grandfather were at the Westside YMCA for their weekly swim session when the grandfather had a medical emergency in the swimming pool area.

Solomon realized his grandfather was in distress and notified the lifeguard and also pushed the emergency pool button to alert the fire department. First responders got to the grandfather to help and he is now doing great!

Great work, Solomon!
