Siena Poll: Hochul holds lead for Democratic primary

ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) —New York Democrats continue to back Gov, Kathy Hochul heading into the primary race for the position, a Siena College poll released Tuesday showed.

According to the poll, Hochul holds the support of 36% of those polled, with 18% backing Attorney General Letitia James, 10% supporting New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and six percent each for Rep. Tom Suozzi and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

24% are undecided or back another candidate.

As far as her current role goes, of those polled, Hochul has a favorability rating of 42%, which is the same as her job performance rating. The performance rating is down from 43% in October.

The poll also asked about Republican gubernatorial candidates including Lee Zeldin and Rob Astorino, who hold a 20% and 16% favorability rating, respectively.

Among the top issues voters are looking for in their candidates: Creating economic opportunity, crime prevention, and COVID management.
