ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — One local neighborhood is decked out and ready for the holidays.

The North Clinton Avenue Business Association held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade Thursday.

The event had been on pause for the last two years because of the pandemic.

This year, the tree was lit in honor of first responders.

Emergency response teams, County Executive Adam Bello, and other elected officials were there.

Organizer and County Legislator-Elect Mercedes Vazquez Simmons shared a message about celebrating safely.

"We have first responders, but we have to make sure that we’re protecting our circle,” Vazquez Simmons said. “We’re gonna have folks from different organizations sending information on vaccines, vaccine locations, we want everyone to celebrate, we want this to continue, we don’t want to see the lockdown that we experienced several years ago."

This was the association’s 29th annual Christmas tree lighting.
