Hilton car break-ins arrests made

HILTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — Arrests have been made after reports of car break-ins in Hilton on Monday morning.

19-year-old Tinos S. McBride Jr., 18-year-old Trevor D. Gulley, and 20-year old Trevon L. Burkett have all been arrested for two counts of 2nd-degree burglary, four counts of 4th-degree grand larceny, and 2 counts of petit larceny. The three men are awaiting arraignment at Parma Town Court.

A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old are also arrested on the same charges.

All five males are from the city of Rochester.

The calls started coming in around 4:18 a.m. this morning for reports of larceny and burglary in the area of Collamer Road and Summertime Trail in Hilton.

“Around 4:40 a.m. we woke up to loud banging on our door,” said Annmarie, who didn’t want to her last name. “At first we didn’t know what was happening, what time it was. My husband looked out the window and there was an officer standing outside.”

Luck was not on Annmarie’s side Monday morning as her van was one of the many hit in the string of car larcenies and burglaries in Hilton.

“My car was kind of a mess before, but they definitely rummaged through and threw stuff around,” Annmarie added.

The mother of two left her car unlocked, which made for a crime of opportunity for the suspects, and her security camera caught it all.

“There were five people heading down our road. Three were across the street on sidewalk and two that came in our driveway. The kid going through my car was in there for about a minute, he didn’t take anything, just made my car even more of a mess. Honestly, with the chaos of two little kids, I sometimes forget to lock the van door. Luckily I don’t keep any valuables in there, and they didn’t take anything,” Annmarie said.

After reports that one of the suspects may have boarded one of the Hilton Central School District busses, out of an abundance of caution, three area schools – Merton Williams Middle School, Quest and Village Elementary were placed on lockout as directed by law enforcement. Lockouts mean that no one can enter the school, but activities resume as normal.

In a press conference this morning with Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined through an investigation that none of the suspects boarded any of the busses.

With a 5-year-old daughter attending school in the neighborhood, Annmarie’s nerves were on edge and decided to take her to school herself.

“I was putting them in the car seats this morning, and I was thinking how there were strangers in our car…and I’m putting the girls in there, it was just a weird feeling,” Annmarie said.

“The underlying message to folks is we have to lock up our cars today. This is a crime of opportunity as you can see we have multiple cars that were broken into, accessed to and people having their valuables taken,” said Capt. Dean Tuthill with MCSO.

Hilton Central School District confirmed that the lockouts were lifted at 10 a.m.

Deputies have recovered two of the guns and are trying to locate the third. It is unknown whether the five suspects have any ties to Hilton.
