Yellow Alert Update

The First Alert Weather Team will keep the Yellow Alert for Western New York and the Finger Lakes for Sunday as an Alberta Clipper rolls through the region. This will primarily be for the afternoon and evening hours as light snow develops and begins to accumulate as the sun sets. We will start off Sunday with cloudy conditions and an isolated snow shower. The snow shower chances will continue into the early afternoon, but most of what will be on the radar early will more than likely not fall as the lower atmosphere will be rather dry. Light snow will develop during the afternoon hours Sunday and begin to stick to area roadways as the sun begins to set during the evening hours. Light snow will continue into early Sunday night and may be heavy at times late Sunday night along the lakeshore. This is because we will see low pressure slide to our south Sunday night and we will see winds come out of the north/northeast which will allow some lake enhancement to occur. Snow showers continue into early Monday before they move out quickly and the sun returns by the afternoon. Snowfall accumulations will be light. Down towards the Finger Lakes, we can expect a trace to an inch of snow while 1"-3" can be expected along the lakeshore due to the lake enhanced snowfall expected.
