Man sentenced 25 years for killing student after he got off school bus on Otis Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Monroe County Court Judge on Friday sentenced a man to 25 years in prison for killing a 17-year-old after he got off a school bus.

19-year-old Salahuddin Floyd Jr., also known as O.G. Poohbear, plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter on Jan. 6. He admitted to fatally shooting 17-year-old Bryson Simpson as he was walking with school friends on Otis Street on March 11, 2022. Both Floyd and Simpson were students at Edison Tech.

Authorities arrested and charged Floyd two months after the shooting after an investigation. His sentencing includes five years of post-release supervision.

The prosecutor in the case, Assistant District Attorney Michael Harrigan, thanked the Rochester Police Department for their investigation that led to justice.

“Bryson Simpson’s family suffered an unimaginable loss and I hope they feel justice in today’s resolution,” he said.
