Deputies: Wayne County man already in jail arraigned in rape case

WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. (WHEC)— Deputies say a Wayne County man already in jail was arraigned on a new charge Tuesday as he’s accused of rape.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office charged 51 year-old Jamie Smith with committing a first-degree criminal sex act. Smith, a registered sex offender, is accused of tying up a Newark woman and raping her multiple times back in August.
Deputies say Smith was arrested on a parole violation some time after the incident. He will appear in court again at a later date.
