Children, 3 and 6, found safe after they were inside a car that was stolen

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester Police say two children, aged 3 and 6, are safe after they were inside a car that was stolen on Thursday afternoon
According to police, the mother went inside a corner store at Lake and Phelps Avenue and left her car running with her children inside. That’s when someone entered the car and drove off with the children.
Officers responded around 3:45 p.m. and began immediately searching for the car. It took them 20 minutes to find the car with the children on Dempsey Place near Lake Avenue.
Police say the children were reunited with their family and the suspect fled before police arrive. RPD is asking anyone with information to call 911.
