ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — With COVID-19 cases on the rise, and the Thanksgiving holiday a week away, Monroe County is announcing a series of rapid testing clinics.

The additional clinics will be available in Rochester, Pittsford and Greece next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

During their weekly COVID-19 briefing, County Executive Adam Bello and Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza continued to sound the alarm about the potential for spread at family gatherings. In addition to continuing the push for vaccinations, they’re urging people eligible for boosters to try to get them early next week and to test before attending large gatherings. Dr. Mendoza also encouraged the use of masks indoors.

When asked about what metrics might trigger any county masking mandates, Bello reiterated the strategy right now is education and prevention and there are no plans for any new restrictions.

The county now has a seven-day average of 430 cases per day.
